Figurative

The world we live in is full of harshness, beauty and serenity. The figurative work reflects this; A strangely chaotic or at times a solemn or muted world. An anonymous sort of humanity lingers, commingles or rests in thickly painted fields of color that often become tangled in chaos, confusion, or the confines of the space. I am compelled with the process of interpreting and recording these thoughts and observations while transforming them into what I consider worthy representations of the fundamentals and formalities of painting; Color, light, form and texture, all of which comprise the space in which we live.

Abstract

The polymer transfers / abstractions are derived by the formalities and attributes of the material itself; Emphasizing paint as a coating rather than a series of marks or a pictorial image. A covered surface, supple, smooth, torn, split, and sewn; Polymer paints are a most compelling medium. The intent is to engage the viewer, enticing him with the language of the medium, to travel or meander through a myriad of complex surfaces, depths and plains while sharing in the delight of the paint and the space that it fills.

I received a B.F.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. in 1985. My work has been exhibited in New york, Connecticut, Michigan and Miami and is collected widely.
